Renting by season
In the French Caribbean and Guiana, every period has its equipment: the festive season, Carnival, wedding season, back to school and its works, hurricane season. Here is what to rent, where, and when to book.
Period: November – December
Christmas and New Year
Christmas dinner for twenty, New Year’s Eve in the garden, carol nights with the neighbours: December is the month when tables, chairs, a sound system and a tent for the rain are always missing. Buying all that for one evening makes no sense. {In}, individuals and pros rent exactly this equipment, a few kilometres from you.
Period: January – February
Carnival
From the first Sunday of January to Ash Wednesday, Carnival mobilises the groups, neighbourhood committees and families following the parades. You need power: a sound system, a generator for the float, a trailer to carry the gear, coolers for the day.
Period: May – August
Weddings and receptions
Wedding, christening, communion, 50th birthday: a successful reception starts with equipment in quantity. Round tables for 8, chairs and covers, tablecloths, high tables for the cocktail, marquee, sound system and microphone for the speeches, centrepieces and an arch for the photos.
Period: August – October
Back to school and works
September and October are the months for all the jobs postponed over the summer: repainting, tiling, putting up a fence, getting the garden ready for the dry season, moving house. A hammer drill, a cement mixer, a sander or a trailer are used for three days and then sleep for months.
Period: June – November
Hurricane season
From June to November every alert brings the same list: a generator for the fridge and freezer, a chainsaw to clear the driveway, a pump to empty the garage, tarps, lamps, coolers. Buying a €3,000 generator for two power cuts a year is heavy. Renting it for three days is not.
