Renting out your gear safely: the owner’s guide
Identity checks, guaranteed payment, hand-over, insurance: the reflexes to rent out with peace of mind.
You know who you are dealing with
Every member has an identity tied to a payment method, and owners complete a full identity check (Stripe Identity) to receive payments. Profiles show reviews and the number of rentals.
You are paid before handing over
The renter pays in the app when you accept their request. The amount is secured by Stripe, then transferred to your bank account after the rental, commission deducted. No cash, no cheque, no unpaid rental.
The deposit protects you
It is computed automatically and confirmed by card hold before hand-over. In case of damage, a dispute reported within 48 hours and condition report photos are enough for the team to rule.
Handing over the item
Pick a public place or your home, whichever you prefer. Do the condition report together in the app, show how it works, hand over the accessories. You can also offer delivery, with a surcharge set in the listing.
Insurance and taxes
Check with your insurer what your policy covers for a lent or rented item. Rental income may be taxable: your earnings history is available in the app.
Preparing your item before the first rental
Clean it, check it works, gather the accessories and state what you supply in the description (charger, cover, manual). Give usage instructions: fuel to use, maximum load, prohibitions. The more precise the listing, the fewer discussions at hand-over and the lower the risk of misuse.
Accepting or declining a request
You are never obliged to accept. Look at the requester’s profile: verified identity, reviews received, number of rentals. Ask your questions in the chat: intended use, location, experience with this type of equipment. A polite refusal beats a rental that worries you. Once the request is accepted, payment is secured before any meeting.
And after? Reviews, extensions, regulars
Leave a review after each rental: it builds the renter’s reputation for other owners. If the renter asks for an extension, it is paid in the app at the rental’s daily rate, commission included. Satisfied renters come back: many active owners make most of their rentals with a few regulars.
